UTA Timpanogos Bus Maintenance & Operations Facility

UTA is the primary public transit provider in Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, Box Elder and Tooele Counties, covering 1,400 square miles. The Timpanogos Bus Facility is one of UTA’s area maintenance and operations facilities. This design-build project was for the renovation and expansion of the that complex to accommodate additional bus capacity, facilities, parking and personnel to support UTA’s Bus Rapid Transit program. The project was completed in multiple phases, beginning with demolition of unneeded structures followed by renovation of existing maintenance bays, bus washes, and locker room areas. As part of the expansion, Big-D constructed several new structures including a fare building, wash building, tire building, fuel building, and additional bus canopies. Project challenges included construction on an operational transit facility and the enhanced contractual requirements for a FTA-funded project.
