- Description
The Salt Lake City Airport Operations Center (AOC) was built in preparation of the Salt Lake City International Airport Redevelopment project to relocate key functions of Airport Operations in a single, updated building. The AOC includes a state-of-the-art Control Center, Badging Office, Engineering Division, and the Salt Lake City Police Department Airport Bureau offices.
The project, technically a remodel of a former FedEx building, is nearly all new as only the steel framed, masonry wall core and shell were salvaged. The project began with demolition of the entire interior and removal and replacement of 90% of the concrete floor slab. Big-D constructed the new architectural layout and finishes, a communications tower and advanced communications system, and new efficient mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems.
